The interim board of directors for the California Biogas Cooperative (CBC) has approved a path for membership into the cooperative.
The CBC is an agricultural cooperative to provide dairy income from manure biogas. The CBC will build, own and operate biogas digesters at dairy locations. There is no investment required by the member. Member dairies agree to provide a site for the biogas system and the manure feedstock. The CBC will produce and market the biogas with all profits returned to the members.
Dairies will begin applying for membership in June. Interested dairies will have a biogas plan developed for their site. Upon approval by the dairy, site control agreements will then be submitted to the board. Upon board approval the dairy will be accepted for membership. Further engineering, permitting and construction will begin on a first come, first served basis, with construction to begin by the end of 2024.
Dairies are being contacted now and will have site visits the week of June 17, 2004.
